THE SECRET KEEPER by Kate Morton

During a picnic at her family’s farm in the English countryside, sixteen-year-old Laurel Nicolson witnesses a shocking crime, a crime that challenges everything she knows about her adored mother, Dorothy. Now, fifty years later, Laurel and her sisters are meeting at the farm to celebrate Dorothy’s ninetieth birthday. Realizing that this is her last chance to discover the truth about that long-ago day, Laurel searches for answers that can only be found in Dorothy’s past. Clue by clue, she traces a secret history of three strangers from vastly different worlds thrown together in war-torn London—Dorothy, Vivien, and Jimmy—whose lives are forever after entwined.

Comments: This is a case of the author took WAY to long to tell me anything and the main character was so unlikable it was funny. I did not finish this book.

This is actually one of my favorite books. I love this author, although I will admit she is not “high action.” It does take a while to get where you’re going. I like the way she goes back and forth in time giving you a little more information each time. But I understand that may not be everyone’s favorite writing style! 🙂

This book actually blew my mind. When I got to the end, I immediately started over, re-reading the entire thing, knowing what I knew at the end. I have never done that with another book (even with other books by Kate Morton).
