DARKLY DREAMING DEXTER by Jeff Lindsay

Meet Dexter Morgan, a polite wolf in sheep’s clothing. He’s handsome and charming, but something in his past has made him abide by a different set of rules. He’s a serial killer whose one golden rule makes him immensely likeable: he only kills bad people. And his job as a blood splatter expert for the Miami police department puts him in the perfect position to identify his victims. But when a series of brutal murders bearing a striking similarity to his own style start turning up, Dexter is caught between being flattered and being frightened–of himself or some other fiend.

Comments: This was an entertaining read that I picked up for a book club I'm apart of. I haven't seen the Showtime series that is based off of Lindsay's Dexter series, but I know it's a lot of people's guilty pleasure. Dexter is certainly an interesting character, and the writing is easy to plow through. From what I've heard about the show the book is much more tame, but the book centers around two serial killers. So, you're going to be reading about quite a few unsavory things. Although I enjoyed Dexter's character, I doubt I'll be continuing on with the series.
